The Life Stories We Tell.

In this essay, originally presented as a speech, I argue that our life’s personal stories, if we have stories at all, are always finally emblematic of something in our lives. For this reason, the stories we tell gather their own patinas over time and are not necessarily related to what actually happened, which is not important. But we are not lying when we tell these stories. We are displaying versions of our selves.
